The other day my mother quoted just that! "children are born with their personalities" but i disagree! My son is loving, sensitive, happy, calm and contented and she believes he was born this way and that it has nothing to do with our parenting. I put it to her that if i were to smack my child and shout at him would he be the same way? i think not! Please tell me your thoughts. many thanks xx

It's weird to me how something we see or hear or feel in a dream can effect the rest of the day. This morning I woke up feeling so heavy and sick and depressed from a dream I had, and it wasn't that sad of a dream or anything, but I feel so heavy, the most depressed I've felt in a year. Does anyone have any idea of why dreams seem to be able to effect us so strongly, emotionally wise, once we awake?

Physical pain can bring tears to our eyes.
Physical sensations, ie. a taste so good it makes your eyes water have likewise effects.
Emotionally, when we are, say, sad, we cry. Or extremely happy, for that. Why?

i used to be a shy and quiet person but have opened up and become extroverted. however, i feel that i would rather go back to being shy and quiet. sometimes (or many a time), i feel the need to keep to myself and be more reserved and restrict myself from opening up and sharing my views. while at other times, i can talk non stop about my feelings without boundaries but later come to regret that i talked too much. i'm confused, why do i feel this way? am i meant to be a quiet (and maybe boring) person with no personality?

The other day I held the door open for a woman and she started to shout at me and call me sexist and say "I don’t need a man to open a door for me". Was I in the wrong or was this woman just an ignorant feminist.
(I open the door for men and women out of courtesy)

If there's no God, what's the point of sticking around? I think that there are some really good arguments in support of suicide, but unfortunately the people who are for it are no longer around. If there's nothing really special about humanity, why not put yourself out of your misery. If we're no more significant that a blade of grass or a sewer rat, is it so bad to just get it over with? What's the point of living out a pointless existence?

Everybody knows that when they do this all they're really trying to do is kiss up to potential voters and make it look like they're actually in touch with the people.

I didn't know she was a psycho analyst. I thought she was an astrologist. But she got a degree in psychology she said(don't know which sort of though).
She ended up really stressed and went off in a hurry.
It was weird.

either through social anxiety or just lack of unique characteristics, can a person have zero personality? Could this be fear based? Or is the lack of personality, a personality? (not trying to be philosophical)

I went to university to study Psychology 8 years ago but left near the end of the first year due to financial difficulties. I had no extra help financially from parents so I found it hard to get by. I then got a job & just drifted I suppose. However, I have never lost my interest & passion for Psychology & now that I am older & more mature I feel I am ready to now go ahead & study for this degree again. However, I now have a house & bills to pay so I would need to stay in my full time job whilst studying but I would like to complete my degree as fast as possible and as chaeply as possible. Can anyone give me some suggestions of where I can do this. Also, can I do it online from home?

I'm almost 40 YO male, plenty of cash in bank, and feel like my life is so empty. I have been hurt by American woman quite a few times and just can't seem to ever trust them again.. Anyway, the beginning of this year, I went to ASIA and became extremely reckless and had unprotected sex with many many woman. I had this wanton attitude like I'm going to live for today and I'm tired of worrying about catching HIV and dieing. And if it happens, I don't care anymore! Being almost 40 not married, no kids, I pretty much have a boring life and don't give a damm if I check out now.. Surprisingly my HIV test came back negative. How can I get more of a fulfilled life? I was thinking about sailing my sailboat across the Pacific for fun and going with only a compass. As you can see - I sort of have a death sentence to fulfill.. Please advise?
