Recently I had my friend confess to me that she usually BLOWS when she can't take anymore of her brothers not listening to helping her around the house and every little thing that they do (that would annoy her during that meltdown) she'd pinch them and slap them. Whatever she might have on hand she'd want to hit them with it. She had a sort-of violent childhood when she would make a mistake she would be spanked by her parents. She's afraid that she might be becoming like her parents. She's aware that she does this things only after hitting them. She knows its wrong but she can't stop herself coz if she does she doesn't know how to let her anger steam out. Does she have a mental problem and how do you help her? I'm really concerned.

I go on this forum and whenever I go on it when I leave I feel crappy. See, I don't want to quit it because it is a forum where they teach you how to do somehting and I want to learn how to do it but its sort of.. over whelming for me. It seems like the people arn't explaining it all to me and then I get freaked out and tries to do the task they give me i try to do it then I post my question and the're response makes me angry or frustrated. What should I do if I don't want to quit?

this means everybody: christians, atheists, jews, muslims anybody.
why do some people feel the need to insult others for having different views on religion, afterlife, morals, etc.. why are we as a species so f-ing stubborn that we can't accept that other people have different views?
i myself have insultued other people for having beliefs that i don't agree with so don't call my a hypocrite. i'm just wondering whly you think this is?

The first meeting with a new client can be critical in establishing a positive and constructive relationship. Often times, a client can be in crisis mode and anxious to get their needs met quickly. As a counselor, you get caught up in the crisis, yet also have an obligation to give information about how we can be of assistance. I have often found that there is a conflict between meeting a persons needs and informing and empowering the individual.

How do you handle the initial meeting with an anxious client? How would you determine which information to offer in this meeting, versus attempting to address their anxiety about their situation?
