To name some off the top of my head:
-Healthcare, though while we all enjoy nationalized healthcare, actually getting the care can be too slow.
-Our birth rate, a good chunk of our population growth relies on immigration, not saying immigrations is bad, just that if your country wouldnt grow much without it, then theres something wrong.
-Distribution of Wealth among the provinces, places like Alberta are much richer than say PEI, or a maritime province

The question of Quebec is always lurking around. Will they separate, will they stay.
Equalization payments. This is federal program to make sure there is a comparable level of public services across Canada. The problem is that many of the provinces believe that equalization is not fair. Some provinces believe that too much money is being given to the have not provinces.
Health care. How does Canada keep health care universal while the price of health care is increasing dramatically, and the waiting times for basic services increases.
Energy prices. Some areas of the country are doing very well due to the high prices of oil and gas. Some are having problems due to loss of manufacturing jobs due the increase in the value of the Canadian dollar.
Kyoto. Canada is going to over shoot its green house gas emissions by 30%.
Afghanistan.
Corruption in the federal government. The gomery inquiry.
These are just a few of the major issue facing Canada today. There is little agreement any on anyone one of these issues, but Canadian generally believe that these are things that need to be addressed.

What are some of the social and economic problems that Canada faces? Immigration id a social problem due to the fact that the selection of suitable immigrants almost doesn't exist and therefore that leads to the economic problems of paying for an abundance of welfare immigrants and refugees.
