Was doing some calculations, and I realized I don't have much freedom. In order to move where i want to live it would cost more money, do what i want to do it would cost more money, say what i want to say it would cost more money, solve health problems i have it would cost more money.

America just doesn't seem a very free place for somewhere that is waging a big war for freedom. Seems we should change thet national anthem so it says, 'Land of the expensive and home of the upwardly mobile'. I suppose that the anthem would have to leave out mention of the millions who have no freedom at all, but who are necessary to make capitalism work.

Does anyone know the name for the psychological condition by which people hurt others (verbally and emotionally) so that they can help them? I know of two people who seem conflicted in how they treat people. They want the worst for people and almost seem pleased when the other person is hurt or fails. But in the same instance, they want to help the person who they just hurt.

For example, a woman undermines her husbands business and doesn't want him to succeed, yet she wants to help be a part of growing the business.

In another example, a mom is secretly pleased when her children fail and seems to get a high that it gives her the opportunity to financially and emotionally help them. In the same breath, this same mother despises her children who do well because they don't need her help.

If this behavior is brought up to the offender, they insist they only mean well.

Is this a severe case of co-dependence or passive aggressiveness? What is this psychological condition?

I mean there are thousands of people in places like Africa who are dying of starvation and AIDS and going through Hell and no one gives a ****. Maybe if rich countries like the USA and other rich countries would show some ******* compassion toward these poor countries and not stay in places like Iraq and steal the arabs oil then maybe everyone would live longer and we wouldn't hear about all these little children dying and digging through trash piles in order to eat something.

I frequently find myself so 'down' that I have to spend lots of hours listening to music, writing, eating, feeling hungry, etc to get better.

How can I deal with my problems in a more productive way? This is really killing me :(

This guy has been having a pop at me since I started asking questions tonight. He is afraid to accept emails so hides from rebuff remarks.
I think everyone has the right to ask a question without being made to feel like a leper so please if you are reading this give us all a break from your petty whims.

People who do not want tobacco to be banned use the excuse that it would deny their basic right to freedom of choice. Yet Tobacco is far more lethal than drugs like heroin and cocaine—tobacco is guaranteed to kill you—and it is legal, so why should the other drugs be banned?
I smell the profit motive in the answer to this question.

Think about it.... If you are a younger guy who has to spend an extended amount of time (like 3 mo. +) away from home, or are gone overnight frequently, there is a more likely than not chance that your woman will cheat on you sooner or later.

It is believed by the scientific community that women are hard-wired to cheat so as to subconciously increase genetic variation, and it is speculated that 20% of kids are not their fathers!

For men, i does not seem to matter how solid your relationship/marriage is, if you are not there to watch out for your interests, you will get screwed, and not in the good way.

Now for the idiots on yahoo, I am not bitter or angry or jaded whatever the insult of the day is today. This is an honest question.

Thanks, you thoughts are appreciated.

recently i had a dream that i made out with my boyfriend's friend. lately, i have found myself thinking about the whole situation somewhat frequently. i feel terrible, as i would never cheat on my bf. i do love him, even tho we have been having some problems lately. why has this dream and the friend been occupying my mind? i was thinking it was because maybe i haven't been feeling very loved by my bf, but what would cause me to ponder on such thoughts? has this ever happened to anyone else?

In 1997 there were 1,500 taxi medallions in the city of Boston, and each medallion generated a profit of about $14,000 per year. In 1998, the city announced that it would issue 300 new taxi medallions, auctioning the new medallions to the highest bidders. Even with the new medallions, the number of taxis in the city would still be less that the number that would occur in an unregulated market. Your job is to predict the annual profit from a medallion after the new medallions were issued. To predict the new annual profit, assume the following….

•The cost of providing taxi service is constant at $2.00 per mile for service
•The initial price of taxi service (with 1,500 medallions issued) is $2.14 per mile.
•Each taxi (or medallion) provides 100,000 miles of service per year, so issuing the 300 new medallions increases the total quantity of taxi service from 150 million miles to 180 million miles.
•For consumers, each $0.01 decreases in the price of taxi service increases the quantity demanded by 10 million miles.

A.Compute the new price of taxi service.
B.Compute the new profit per medallion

I am single and in my 30's. I am having my second child and am happy. But my family is made of pastors and I feel guilty. Whenever i tell people I am pregnant, I feel critisized, even if they are not critisizing me. I hold my head high and show my pride, but inside, I feel like a dirty little sinner. How do I let go of childhood brainwashing and feel the pride and happiness deep down?
