Think about it.... If you are a younger guy who has to spend an extended amount of time (like 3 mo. +) away from home, or are gone overnight frequently, there is a more likely than not chance that your woman will cheat on you sooner or later.

It is believed by the scientific community that women are hard-wired to cheat so as to subconciously increase genetic variation, and it is speculated that 20% of kids are not their fathers!

For men, i does not seem to matter how solid your relationship/marriage is, if you are not there to watch out for your interests, you will get screwed, and not in the good way.

Now for the idiots on yahoo, I am not bitter or angry or jaded whatever the insult of the day is today. This is an honest question.

Thanks, you thoughts are appreciated.

Ok, apparently a lot of the idiots are not reading the question all the way thru.

This DID NOT happen to me, I have however seen it time and time again in friends and aquaintances (sp?).

Those of you that kick out personal insults. You are apparently retards that can't argue or add anything constructive. Outstanding.

Keep the thoughtful insights coming...

Because of our businesses, careers, schedules and lifestyles, my husband and I are often apart for long periods. We both travel extensively and may not see each other for up to 4 months. Our lives are active, successful, exciting, and rewarding.
Although I have had many invitations and opportunities, I have never cheated on him. In fact, the thought of infidelity has never even occurred to me. My husband and I are one. How can I cheat on myself? I do not even accept lunch invitations from men if I think they may be inappropriate or unseemly in any way. Business lunches are sometimes necessary. However, if a man acts forwardly, I clearly define perimeters to him. If he persists, I immediately diffuse the situation or leave. I am not afraid to be rude.

When my husband and I together, our romance & sex life is heated, passionate, healthy, and frequent. I still dream about him when he is away. We have been married for 14 years.

People usually cheat for the same reasons. They feel lonely, unappreciated, unloved, horny, bored, neglected, resentful, or revengeful. Sometimes they are just drunk. In any case, it is a selfish act, no matter how much they may blame the other partner for it.
My husband and I do not take each other for granted. That would be a mistake. He is a very attractive and successful man. I do not allow him the opportunity to feel neglected or unappreciated. He is still very romantic, appreciative, charming, and attentive with me. He even calls me for dates. I love it.

I see so many people online searching for sex or romance- particularly men. It is both sad and humorous. So many men in their 50's and even 60's are advertising for their "true soul mate".
Isn't it a little late for that? How can someone learn, strive, achieve, and grow together at such a late date? If they were soul mates they would already be together.
Too many people are trying to re-capture that feeling of their "first kiss". It is an elusive dream.

It is a sad commentary on our times that in a world of over 6 billion souls, there are so many lonely, seeking, desperate and depressed people.

I made a commitment to my husband when I married him. I will not, nor cannot, break that promise in this lifetime. People would be much happier, healthier, and have more self-respect if they would not break their vows to each other. NO MATTER WHAT!

All women do not cheat. I'm sorry that yours did.

Peace.

You have to state some statistics for such a thing.

But I think I know what you mean.

From where I come from, a spouse is not to leave their better half alone for long periods of time because thats what marriage is about.

In the event that one of the spouses leaves t he other alone for long ...even if its for work. The other one has the right to divorce him. Because marriage is a physical and a spiritual union.

As far as who cheats on who the most, I dont think u can make clear cut distinctions. but I have known men who will cheat on their wives because theyre not as willing to go along with all their needs as lets say...a 7 year younger women does.

Situations change with the people involved.

My husband and I just got into this discussion a few days ago. My friend, a married woman, is cheating on her husband and that's what brought up the heated discussion. My husband, burned twice by ex's, me not included, at least not yet, according to him, says that woman can get sex easier. At first I didn't understand what he meant, but this is his scenario: Man walks up to woman in Walmart whispers lets have sex, follow me to the bathroom. He gets slapped or security or police are called. Woman does same, man follows her to restroom. Ok, so women can give it away easier and men are hos. It is unfortunate that people cheat on each other in general. Let's just go with that.

yes, get rid of the dirty whore and find someone decent. women will always play away if they get a chance unless you got a nice trustworthy one. they are hard to come by, but they are out there. don't let it get to you. affairs never last long when they are actually dumped for their flings because it is a thrill for them and when they are pushed into staying with their affair because the one who loved them do not want to be with them no more, the thrill is gone and they realise what a stupid sIag they been and then they end up with NOBODY. it's her loss. find a new woman and move on dude. best of luck.

Men are more prone to cheating than women, especially if they are away from home that often. They will do it with prostitutes, business colleagues or have one night stands, if given the opportunity. Men are also hard-wired to spread their seed as much as possible, to ensure that their genes are passed on to the next generation.

Ha, if my girl went away for that long I'd prolly cheat on her too, no matter how in love i am with her. Sorry we are sexual beings and need that desire filled more than you think.

sorry to disagree - i think that most women view sex as an emotional thing & therefore if they are missing something emotionally from their husbands, they will cheat - whereas a man that cheats will do it just because he can & because he cannot resist temptation and be in a mature relationship.

I think statistically speaking men cheat at a much higher rate than women do.

There will always be cheating by both sexes because monogomy goes against human nature.
