I find it best to listen to some classical music on a light volume or else just complete silence.

I'm sort of the same way. My mind wanders off, especially if I'm doing a boring English project. XD

Of course, being in a place with little distractions or where you always concentrate is useful. Like, do your homework in the same spot everyday.

Silence is the key word. When that is not possible, then you must learn to block out all distractions, and concentrate on one thing at a time.

I drink caffiene and limit distractions.

Seriously - I can stay focused on anything if I see the value in completing the task. You must find some value in what you are doing, and you will stay focused. Sometimes the value is future - such as schooling - sometimes the value is more immediate - such as once I get this task done, I can move on to something more interesting. Don't think of how 'boring' this task is, think of its value and get it done and move on.

I am a competitive person by nature, I usually concentrate better when the pressure is on, like in a competition or If I have a dead line. I always feel it necessary to prove my abilities.

For my GF it was orange juice... She went to pour a glass this morning & saw the word concentrate, so just stood there looking at the carton for a couple of hours.

I do too! I'm finding music is helping. I'm playing it now! Music that I grew up with helps me. Also, soft instrumental music (pianos, saxophones, stuff like that). Soft jazz and even classical music. I love the recent stuff out there, but it doesn't help me to concentrate!

Caffeine. If I enjoy what I'm doing. If I feel like what I'm doing is useful. Sometimes knowing I can take a break in a few hours.

I am VERY VERY easily distracted, so i know ur problem. Wat my mom has done is put me in a little room with no friends to distract me. Consider that.
