I would just say that you do need to search out the meaning of a dream that stays with you in that way, If it is not "Prophetic" (from God) Then It came from within you & is your own subconcious mind sorting a thing out. I believe if it leaves you with a feeling you can't shake, then it is trying to tell your concious mind something, and you should figure out what..
(Just normal, "I had a wierd Dream" dreams are not such but the ones you can't seem to shake)

Many times the depression comes from an attempt to connect what happened in the dream to what is going on in your real life. Interpretation of the dream, as it were.
Remember that dreams are not necessarily divinatory, and not necessarily Freudian indications of unconscious desires. The "not so sad" dream may have depressed you with the fact that it was not true; the horrible dream usually gives relief when you wake up and realize that it was only a dream.
Many people have theories about what dreams really are, and I have toyed with many of them over the years. My current theory is that they are made up of the jumble in our minds, and help in the sorting out process only if we do not take them too seriously.

well sometimes i also have dreams like those where you wake up sick except that mine are not feeling depressed but rather either quiet or bitchy. ii think that your mind is still thinking about whatever problems or whatever is going on in your life therefore you wake up tired or bitchy or whatever because maybe you did not get a good night's sleep. dreams affect us when awake because that is your conscience or part of it involved in your dreams therefore if you had a good dream it will be okay but if you had a bad or dejavu dream then it will make you sick sometimes because of all the worry and all the emotions and events that happened in the dream that were so realistic that when you wake up you can be in whatever mood.

Because often times dreams represent our hearts desires. Waking up from a world in which you have exactly what you want is a tough thing.
