answers? Seriously.. Why is it that the lonely and scared come out in droves on weekends? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem helping where I can, it just seems like there are droves of the sad on Saturday night.

It means something like "being out of touch with one's emotions", and can be used to describe what happens to people with horrible injuries, like spinal cord injury. They don't really face how the injury affects them, because it's too much. I think it starts with an "a", and it's really obscure. Thanks

eg, when ppl think of ppl trying for a free ride, getting paid even if they dont work, they think of the poor, ppl on welfare, but NEVER of the superrich, who CANT have earned so much, who MUST be overpaid - eg, a nobelprizewinning economist can say there is no free lunch, when the highest AVERAGE pay [increase of fortune] /hr is US$500,000 - with peaks up to $10,000,000 - eg, ppl can say seriously that the rich make their money by hard work, when no one can work more than twice as hard as the average person, & yet incomes [increase of fortune]/workhr go up to A MILLION TIMES average - superextraordinary - superodd - super hard to explain -
the poor man gets at most ONE unemployment benefit, the rich man gets up to 3 million unemployment benefits [assuming the unemployment benefit is a third of average hrly pay] - and yet ppl dont have an atom of indignation or contempt or hatred for this, and yet have sometimes considerable animus against the poor person getting one unemplymnt ben.

Over five years ago, in Middle school, I used to have a crush on this girl. I didn't know her at all. I didn't have any classes with her. I just saw her around in the halls and in some clubs. She also rode my late bus (the bus that takes you home if you stayed after for clubs), so I saw her there too occasionally.
Anyways, I never acted on it, and I haven't seen her in five years. But it sort of bugs me still, since I remember it and start thinking about it now and again. I kind of want to know if she knew I existed and what if.
So do you think I should let her know? I would be doing this through a popular social networking site.

Do you feel attracted to a movie star because he unconsciously reminds you of your high school PE teacher, or a singer because she looks a little bit like your first girlfriend?

I ask because there is a comedian I really fancy, and when I saw a fan photo of him taken front on like a mug shot, I realised he looked very much like the first boy I had a crush on in high school. Same face shape, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, height, build etc. And when I thought about it, they have similar voices, smiles, senses of humour and personalities as well.

It made me wonder if ALL crushes on people we don't even know (like celebrities) can be traced back to a real person somewhere in our past.

Would this explain why some very stunning famous people leave one cold, while a kind of weird-looking one arouses one beyond belief?

Last night as I was lying in bed I had just started to doze off
when suddenly I woke up not knowing that I had even fallen asleep and felt like I just jolted back into my body.
My whole body shook for a split second and I was quite terrified until I realized I must have fallen asleep.

Does this sound familiar? Can anyone recognize this?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

I work with a guy who has a significant stutter. Sometimes he can talk for a while without any pauses, but at other times he gets stuck and really struggles. I don't know if it is because of this or if he is just naturally reserved, but he has been really hard to get to know. We are going to be spending alot of time alone together in the next few weeks for work-related reasons and I'd like to get to know him a little better. Any ideas of how I could accomplish this without making him feel pressured or embarrassed?

Are there any reputable studies backing the theory that you are what you hate, or is it the case that claiming someone is projecting his own issues onto another is itself amatuerish and inappropriate without compelling evidence. For example, I'm pro gay rights, but I don't go around thinking every homophobic person is secretly gay. Is there a reason to think they generally are? It sounds more to me like giving school yard bickering legitimacy.

Doesn't the same logic also conclude that hating paedophles means you are one? Who doesn't feel offense at such a supposition as that?
