Is it height of optimism or idiocy?

2006-10-01 04:03:57 · 19 answers · asked by Hobby 5 in Psychology

For my research, could you kindly tell me:

-If you often forget birthdays of your friends, family & colleagues?
-If you often forget private appointments (dinner, dentist, parent-teacher evening etc)?
-How you keep track of birthdays or private appointments (in your head, on paper, PDA, phone, other)?

Optional:
-Are you male/female?
-On which continent do you live?

Your responses will be highly appreciated!

Thanks and regards,
Michael.

Just out of interest...I was watching x-factor this morning, and without fail, with everyone who got through in Simon's category their reaction was to bury their head in their hands. I thought that was generally a response to bad news...Any psychological explanations?

I am more interested in those who might be institutionalized to prevent harm to self or others than those who might be medicated or in therapy and living among the general population. Recently collected hard data on either group, however, would be appreciated.

What's the term that describes the phenomenon of knowing everything yet still continuing to do what you've been doing all along, even though you know it's bad and unethical?

For example, I know that there's a recyling bin a few blocks away and I know that killing trees is bad, but yet I still throw my piece of paper into the garbage.

The term has slipped my mind! Argh! Help me!!!!

when i observe english people when they are not involved in any conversation (e.g. on tube), most of them look uptight and uninterested in other human beings.

And when they start a conversation they change completely and pretend they enjoy the convesation and care about a person they speak to (it looks pathetic if you are from another culture and perceive their real attitude, as they may think it is invisible or accept this mutual bullshiting).

this extreem change shows what is real and what is an overly friendly attempt to overcome the english antisocial nature. ..... being english, are you aware of this or do you think it is normal to bullshit other people ?

We all see and sometimes feel the impact of PC influence in the world around us. It affects us all in different ways depending very much upon who we are. From my understanding, it has been concocted to relieve people from the misery and discomfort of being offended.

This is absurd because in the course of coexistence people will offend each other without actually doing anything wrong.

Is PC an attempt to control thought?

Stoneage man couldn't have found some and said, "theres not much of this around, so it'll be valuable". Also gold in its true form is dull, its has to be treated to become shiny, and look like gold.

I am sick of people telling me racist/sexist jokes or comments and when I tell them that I find it offensive they tell me that I am over-reacting. Why is it that some people insist on telling me their opinions but will not listen when I try to voice mine? Any tips on how to deal with rude people like this? Perhaps I am being too nice?

Can anyone help? I have a very strange memory for numbers,I can hear or see a telephone number twice and remember it straight away and can recall it even several weeks later.I just want to know if there is a psychological term for it.I asked this question before and most people replied that it was autism, which I know I don't have,I interact perfectly as well. Thanks
