We all see and sometimes feel the impact of PC influence in the world around us. It affects us all in different ways depending very much upon who we are. From my understanding, it has been concocted to relieve people from the misery and discomfort of being offended.

This is absurd because in the course of coexistence people will offend each other without actually doing anything wrong.

Is PC an attempt to control thought?

Just because the term POLITICAL CORRECTNESS has been associated with politics doesn't make the concept wrong. As it stands, the phrase seems to denote one who caters to a certain behavior, way of speaking with the sole purpose of getting a vote that they wouldn't if they said what they really meant or thought. Political Correctness is really no more than Miss Manners has tried to teach us for decades. Let's face it. We all come from different places, backgrounds, races, religions and have different values. If we must interact, is it not a good idea for us to be as empathetic as possible.

Political Incorrectness alway seems like it's "NO BIG DEAL" until it is aimed at us.

It's a prime example of good intentions gone bad, of style over substance.

It's worse than "thought control". It inhibits actual communication that would ultimately allow us to resolve conflicts and get along with one another. I'd rather deal with a person who's open with their biases than a person who simply mouths the latest PC lingo without reflection on its meaning.

Although it is a bit overdone, and at times, a bit cumbersome I think the concept is good. It is intended to be used to create awareness but some of it is down right silly. There are times people are way to concerned about mere words and they run the risk of losing the message when they get bogged down in the verbiage. Peace.

PC is a bad word to me.I speak my mind.I think pc is for people who are mean spirited when they speak. If you express your views honestly there is no need to hold back.At least those who know you know you are giving the truth.I would rather be told a sad truth than a happy lie.

here is nothing good about pilitical correctness. There was a time when I think it came in handy for those who really were not equal, it was to keep people from really being racist and stuff, but in our times when we are all equal its only puporse serves to keep people fromgetting their feelings hurt. We have become a world filled with softies who expect everyone else to tip tow around them.

There is nothing good about Political Correctness. It results in ridiculous words and expressions and I don't think it resolves anything.

There is absolutely NOTHING GOOD about Political Correctness. It is becoming the biggest pain in the butt ever! We coped before without it, we can cope now.

It is certainly not a reason to control a thought but rather a norm for refraining from abusing one's freedom of expression .

Initial attempt of PC was to make everyone feel welcome and involved. It has taken a bad turn and became exactly what it was fighting, intolerance.
