A person is an individual. So why do some generalize black people as having tons of kids and being illiterate and on welfare. Why are white judged as having incest and living in trailers. Why are hispanics generalized as being "dirty" and why are asians supposed to be "nerds" Of course there are large majorities who may be these things but I don't understand why there's so much hate and bigotry. I know people of all these races and some are stand out wonderful people and some are not. People are individuals and should be addressed for who they are, not for the pigmentation of their skin.

I just casually brought this with my mom, thinking she would have no problem understanding what I saw and she couldn't relate to me in the least. Is this normal, and if not is it some type of classifiable disorder? Also, there is a kind of "static" that I see in the dark...almost like a mass amount of tiny light particles. Could this be attributed to anything?

If someone asks you to do something important, and you don't want to do it, do you find it hard to refuse?
Example : Saying no, I don't want to see that movie, is not important compared to no, I don't want to marry you, etc....;D

Thanks, for answering in advance!;D

Sometimes I feel it is so condescending that women should think children are "cute" or so fascinating. For ex., at work, when someone brings a baby in, usually the guys just stay working or smile or wave or something, but the women drop whatever they are doing & turn into 12 year olds and start shreiking "oh my god, he's sooooooooo cute,", "look at his toes, oh my god," etc.

I wish them no harm of course, but I just can't stand to be around them. The screaming, the crying etc. Very sensitive to noise....

And the very thing I WANT I don't get ?........Does this ever happen to U alot ??
It's like a cosmic thing that happens. I have NO control over it.

My story, set in the year 1799,is about a youn lady (Emily) who is poor in America. When her parents die,she becomes the warden of a kindof wealthy Aunt in England.Emily, who hated poverty because she experience many tragic events in her impovrished life, and was never really accepted by her peers, starts to like her new upper-class life. But slowly,it changes her view in life in a rather negative way (ex.Appearance comes before character.Money before love) and starts caging her, turning her into an artificial doll (as many upper-class people are). But then she meets a gypsy and she's attracted to him because he reminds her of the life she ONCE led.But in the end,the gypsy asks her to elope, but she rejects, because society has changed her from a romantic to a realist, and in reality, she knows that he can't offer her the comfort her AUNt can offer her.

Can you make this plot anymore interesting? or is it fine as it is? And have more phsycology to it?

While I agree it would likely reduce the purchase of cigarettes (in direct proportion to the size of the tax), i don't think its a good idea for 2 reasons:

1. I don't like government intervening and/or trying to influence what people should do (i hate smoking, but I hate social engineering even more. I think people can make their own good or bad decisions).

2. This would seem to hurt small business owners more than anyone. Consider, you are raising the price on a product they sell a lot of yet NONE of the increase in price goes to them. Raising prices will lower sales, so essentially you are decreasing revenues to the small business owner who sells cigarettes. Any tax set up to hurt small business owners is very poor in my view.

Agree/Disagree? Why?

In football, you are taught never to look back. If necessary, take the hit. You are always moving forward. striving for that elusive prize, the touchdown.

In baseball, you go up to the batters box, take a swing at the ball in the hopes of reaching first base. With the help of the next batter, you hope to return home and score and be congratulated and smiled upon by your team-mates.

One sport - football, says, don't look back. Keep going forward, and above all, don't get intercepted.

The other sport, baseball, says come on home, we need to see you round the bases.

Are you a baseball fan or a football fan ?

My parents are always down talking me about the kind of college I feel that I really want to go to. I want to go to the American Academy of Arts or MAYBE transfer to USC or UCLA and do their performing art programs. My parents want me to do some medical and scientific stuff, things that do not interest me. They constantly push it on me, especially my father, and I tell them I do not want to because I am not interested in that, I want to do something that I love or like. They tell me "life is not all about you and it's not all about what you like or not, there are going to be things you don't wanna do". They say this to everything, but it just doesn't connect to me. I make very good grades and school and was born with natural talents and I love them, I want to go into the Arts. I already do it in school and they hate it, they say it's too easy. But it isn't. How do I tell them that the bad talk and pressure is getting very stressful? Or am I being immature? I'm not sure what to think

In a world with growing problems of increasing urgency are people using some form of adaptive ignorance to contunue with their lives as though nothing could be done. Is this kind of attitude exactly why things get so bad?

I want to be more successful at my job, but it requires a focus I just don't have. How do I get engaged in my job? How do I make myself more motivated and focused? Is there a way I can rev up my ambition to match the end goal of more success (meaning money; meaning respect; meaning a job I'm passionate about)?

Can I *change* myself?

i'm one of those people who when trying to say a simple sentence, say it in a very complicated way, for example: "it's like my parents werent home and we couldnt do it because they like werent home because they were gonna go out so u know, we couldnt really do it"
how can i not do this anymore? and just say things normally and in a simple way?

Dr. Phil's Life Law is..There is power in forgiveness.
Strategy: Open your eyes to what anger and resentment are doing to you. Take your power back from those who have hurt you.. my question is ..is it possible to forgive someone who molests you..after all the pain and embarrassment (sp) and humiliation they put you through. I still have to see this person unfortunatley and honestly no i don't want to forgive him.. but i cant sleep at night and it's affecting my relationships with my family and personal friends. what can i do to not let this consume me.. besides see a therapist.. sorry for the shitty spelling.
