A person is an individual. So why do some generalize black people as having tons of kids and being illiterate and on welfare. Why are white judged as having incest and living in trailers. Why are hispanics generalized as being "dirty" and why are asians supposed to be "nerds" Of course there are large majorities who may be these things but I don't understand why there's so much hate and bigotry. I know people of all these races and some are stand out wonderful people and some are not. People are individuals and should be addressed for who they are, not for the pigmentation of their skin.

what u say is completely true. people tend to generalize an entire race just because of some individuals. people these days have a pre-conceived idea about others when they dont even know them. for example they c all white people as rednecks, all black people as poor, all brown people as terrorists, .......
This is not true as every individual is the person that he/she is.There will always be a rotten egg somewhere, that doesn't mean everyone belonging to that race, religion, or culture has to be so. God has created all man kind equally, why dont they treat themselves that way??

Unfortunately, everyone does it, weather they mean to or not. Also how the different races are portrayed on TV, in the newspapers, and on the radio, is generally how individuals look at others. Influence is probably the biggest factor of generalization.

People generalize other's by their race because that is how they were brought up. To talk about them by what race they are. If only we teach our kids and their kids to not generalize them by what race they are I believe that things will chance in the race talk world.

I honestly don't get it either. Must be the way some folks are raised, but then I guess you'd have to go WAY back, cause their parents and granparents learned it from somewhere too. Some cultures are too different too, I suppose, and we fear what is different.

ASIANS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE NERDS!
anyways.....
people (especially american) LOVE to classfy people into races to show their ROYALTY or BEST-RACE thoughts. i've been to the US once and all i see is a different eying from other people. it's feels so weird and sad. we are just different races, that doesn't mean asians are scary or bad or anything like that.

Some people tend to stereotype because they are ignorant and uneducated. And they grew up with ignorant, uneducated, closed-minded people. It's a cycle.

Stereotypes are there because they funny instances of commonplace things to one race that are so common, everyone pretty much knows about them and laughs about them off bat. Mannnny of them are true, or were true at some point, it's good thing to point out differences and laugh about them, i'm fine to be fun of for being white, but dont expect me to walk on eggshells for some crybaby.
