Social Science - 28 July 2006

This is a serious Q - I notice that most women make a point of saying 'I think x,y,z..but I am NOT a feminist'..also notice that many male posts treat the social movement with utter contempt..

FTR - there is a huge diversity of opinion within the feminist movement but most are also interested in other kinds of injustice too.. it is not about hating men or thinking women are right all the time.. it is about hating the way women are sometimes treated knowing that not all women are oppressed.. or to the same extent..

Issues like the 40,000,000 missing girl children in China, the 10,000,000 in India..are those feminists campaign for or the fact that 12,000 Russian women are killed by their partner each year and domestic abuse is so common they have a saying 'if he doesn't hit you - he doesn't love you'.. or the fact that over 90% of cases of rape which have enough evidence to go to court do not lead to a conviction..the list is endless but just wondered why the contempt?

I know a chiropractor who uses it to help him find painful areas on his patient's backs (they can't see him work) and my husband uses it to find water. I'm sue there's something in it.

I am 17 and my sister is 14, I am just very uncomfortable about the fact that my parents basically haven't been home these last 2 weeks. I see them and the morning, but they go to my aunts house after work because her daughter died and they want to comfort her. They talk about a whole bunch of people being there and talk about how it is a party over there. Well, the problem is, the coming home at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00...I don't understand why. They do this often, but only when they are going to somewhere special, but now it is everyday and it feels like they want to get away from us. We are not bad. But is this normal? Are they just trying to prepare me since I am turning 18 soon or something? I am mad at them for this and I sort of feel wrong because I do not know if it is a thing to be concerned about or not because their parents and most likely they'll do the right things

saw this girl comeing out of the elvator at school and my jaw droped and she just smiled, i saw her again and i asked her her name and we talked a bit and she said she was wondering who i was , i saw her at the park she gave me her number and said to call her she was blowing me kisses nd she gave me a hug is she playin games or dose she like me, i called her yesterday and she didint call back. i saw her down town today and she was makeing excuse like she just lost her job she has to buy something for her sister she has to brake up with her bf, she said h she is haveing a tough week but i dont know this is alot of excuses, at the end of our conversation she just kept smiling and giving me hugs
is she just playin games because big deeno cant take it
