Social problems arise in a society when there are glaring differences. I am not in US but I know that there are a lot of ethinic groups, mixed race groups, unemployment among certain section of the people, rich and poor complexities, failed marriages, pre-18 girl conceiving, drug addiction to list a few. These point towards social problems.
In my opinion the following will help to reduce the incidences of voilence in society:
1. Repect for individuals of all ethinic and mixed race people. Dont' see the orgin of the country from which they have come or the colour
2. Create more employment opportunities for America people first, they you can become a global employer. (Set your house in order)
3. Make an affordable standard of living
4. Tolerance of individuals have to improve, husband and wife should learn for compromises for the betterment of both of them to avoid failed marriages.
5. Sex is an essential part of life but that alone is not life - experience is at an matured age, not at 16 and 18
6. Parents communication with children should improve - to overcome not ony drug addiction but also other habits
We can list a few more. If these are taken as an accusation from a non-American, God only should help them. (That belief also has gone with several people, when several scientists believe in God.)

the rich countries like the US have video cameras to show every social problem that comes up. poor 3rd world countries do not. I'll bet that the poor 3rd world countries don't have a sensationalist media that makes every little drop of spilt milk into a "special edition doomsday at hand" news story.

Well, since you are a level one, and obviously new to the venue, I'll cut you a bit of a break here instead of jumping down your throat. Please don't ask questions that show your ignorance of situations. Obviously the US does not have more social problems than poor third world countries, and you saying it does doesn't make it true. If you are going to cite anything, please back up your statement. If you can't back it up, keep your hands off the keyboard and don't show the world your ignorance.

There are not.

Rich countries like the U.S. (and European nations) have the time to think about "social problems" and the money and exposure to wear them on their sleeve for the world. Sudan wishes it had the luxury to talk about social problems, and the stage for the world to listen.

people with more money get fixated on material possessions. poor people hold on to what they have and for many of them, all they have is family.
