I think women are probably diagnosed with mental illness more than men. A man will be told he has an anger mgmt problem or "bad temper", while a woman will be diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In jail, they will probably be given the same meds, though the man is considered mentally healthy. In a domestic violence situation, its more likely that the woman will be treated for mental illness because she was duped by a psychopath, than it is for the psychopath to be treated. There are many men that are undiagnosed bipolar and their lives changed drastically with meds, they stayed out of jail and off drugs, and excelled in their careers. Do they deserve tx? They must be treated, to prevent the harm/death of their loved ones. I know a woman asked that her husband be committed when the cops came out on a domestic, and cops wouldnt cuz he was not a threat to himself or others, though he just beat her and kids and threatened to kill them. She got mad and they threatened to commit her!
