That's how I've gotten most of my jobs. Nowadays, it's only half "what you know", and the other half "who you know"...and sometimes it's ONLY who you know. hehe..

Knowing someone may help you land an interview, however, it doesn't mean you'll get the job because you knew that person. And there is nothing wrong with getting your foot in the door because of networking. However, when you do get the job; know it's because of your education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that you earned it!

I did. I got a job in human resources for the company I used to work at because my mother in law was best friends with this woman's sister. It was kind of a crappy job, but it was a job just the same.

Yes to the Question.
My Neighbors from Norway asked me If I would like to work at their friends Physical Therapy practice. I worked there for four years.
My neighbor Kristian lived to be 100, and his wife Lila, is still here, closing in on a Century also.

They moved here together from Norway,, and fell in love with the Coast of California. Here they made a home full of love and laughter. They were good neighbors, and friends.

Not in my case.... but it has happened to many people I know, it's part of our society, anywhere in this world you can find things like that. I think it's kinda sad, however, I think if the person works hard enough and do his or her best there is nothing wrong with getting a job like that.

I have not gone through this yet. Usually, I look for work from the classified ads when I was younger so basically, I always do not know anyone in the companies I applied for. :)
