I believe that anyone who answers "no" to this question should also consider what they would do if their child/spouse/mother/father or whoever is their most dear were about to be killed and this person was in a position to stop it, but the only option was to kill the rapist, child molester,(whatever). Would they save the life of their loved one? Now this rescuer may suffer from the toothpaste effect(apply pressure and everything comes out the top) and fail to act in time, but all other things being equal I refuse to believe that they could not see the neccesity of saving their loved one.

I think that if you are in a position to save an innocent life by taking a life, it may be justified. Although I prefer to think of it in the way police do... you're not trying to KILL the potential murderer, you're trying to stop him. If you shoot him once and he doesn't die, but he drops his gun, then you have no justification for shooting him again. In reality "stopping" and "killing" frequently turn out to be the same thing, but you have the moral responsibility to try to save the life of the person you've stopped once the threat is neutralized.

have you ever read the book A time to kill by john Grisham?
well if you haven't, you should.
in the book, a young black girl gets raped by 2 white men.
they get arressted and are put in prison.
but the father did not think that was enough.
First of all, they were white and him and his daughter was black, and the book is written in the times where blacks had no rights.
so, the father took justice into his own hands.
he killed the two men, but got a good white lawyer.
I can't remember, but I think he got off.
I'm not saying that was rite, but........................some people are crazy and deserve to die.

personally for a child's or my children's sake..for the people I love if they were in the situation it was them being threatened by them -mortally I mean then yes... BUT I am sure it would still affect me horribly because knowing that was still was someone child or parent..that the person must of been loved by someone.. and that alone would haunt me forever..tho my answer was yes for only if it was to save my loved ones..the Innocent ones who could not defend themselves.

Well, very hard to answer, as one will have to answer to their maker one way or another. I have had situations where killing someone was an option out of my safe being. I chose not to do it.

No, I don't. What is there to be gained in taking another person's life?
