I have this faith that there is some kind of intrinsic right and wrong, but i can't justify this faith on the basis of the physical world.

The best i can come up with is rational emotivism
where moral judgements are only emotional judgements, but that people's emotions matter!

Is there a better reason than this to be ``good´´?

No faith based answers please.

I am overweight. I'm not talking just a couple of pounds. However, I do feel I am also a very pretty woman. I am 31 and have been married for 15 years. I have two teens. When I met my hubby I was thin. I gained the weight through pregnancies and medication. He tells me I am beautiful...that he would never change me. I do believe he feels that way but I also think he wouldn't mind too much if we woke up tomorrow and I was thin. So my questions are...do men who say those things secretly think otherwise? Do most men only want a thin woman? Would any of you men out there give an overweight girl a chance to see what she's like at first before turnning her down just because of her looks? And women...what do you think when you see an overweight woman on the street? I know there is more than one question here. Sorry about that. I'm just really curious. Please...no ignorant replies. Everyone has feelings and I'm not up for being depressed tonight. Thanks for your help.

The fact is, people really hate other people simply because of the color of their skin. Why is this? Is their some historical event that I'm unaware of? Is there some inherent hatred in the human psyche? Do people just not get along in general? What are your thoughts? (Oh, and PLEASE do not say that racism stems from slavery or from segregation or any other relatively modern events. Those events stemmed from racism, not the other way around, racism has been around much longer than the United States has).

As an Ancient Near Eastern Art and Archaeology major, I feel that it is not our place as archaeologists to speak out on political issues (i.e. the war in Iraq) in relation to archaeological issues. Of course, for example, we can state whether or not certain military actions are negatively affecting archaeological sites. However, as archaeologists, I don't think that it is our place to publicly condemn or condone government actions. We can do so as private citizens, but not as archaeologists for it is not our area of expertise. What do you think? Do you think it is our responsibility as archaeologists to consider present-day social issues, as they may pertain to our studies?

I have many times heard from people who came over to me and asked me why "people do not like me?"
Conducting a behavioral analysis, I found out that most of these people rarely interact with people and therefore some of their responses (answers, actions) were slow, ackward, and alot of times out of the ordinary. Psychologically, I could assign them to jump out the boat and try to socialize as much as possible. But the main question would be, can people "accept" them before they actually "change" ? It's a tough call dealing with rejections, rolling eyes, and hurtful remarks especially for these kids. A lot of times they gave up half-way and decided to isolate themselves from the world.

1. How do you usually react when interacting with these kind of people? Do you don't want to deal with them anymore? Do you gossip about them to others? Do you reach out to them and become friends? Let me know your perspective.
2. Have you ever met someone with this psycholical problem?
thanks!

Is anyone going to Heaven???

Seriously who has not sinned over the age of...I don't know....at what age do we start tallying up our sins???

I'm thinking Heaven may be a kids only zone!!! Or do we really only have to ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus to pass through the "Pearly Gates"???

I've got to tell you...I've already seen a few of the circles of Hell and I'd be a fogiving and accepting Mother F@%*er if it meant the difference, whatever my faith may be!!!

Thoughts anyone!!!

Oh and I felt the need to resubmit under a different catagory. The Bible Belters are in a pissy sort of mood this fine evening!!
