1. Religion- I am a very relious person, but I a willing to admit that religion is one of the biggest problems that impact this country. If you don't believe everything the people around you believe, you are shunned or treated as an outcast at every turn. Moslems get tormented as terrorists, Athiests are immoral nihlists, Christians are Bible-weilding trigger-happy crazies, Bhuddists are all monks and chinese, Shintos are all Japanese-Supremacists, Hindus would rather be cows, Jews are all rich bankers, and Jesus Christ was really married and it has been covered up in a giant conspiracy for a thousand years until now. I've heard it all, and I just named a few. We all steriotype.
2. George W. Bush- Going against the Unitd Nations into Iraq and then telling the world that our only hope for world peace is the UN is the dumbest thing anyone could ever say or do. I swear, my dog would make a better and more efficient president.
3. The Patriot Act- This law is a direct blasphemy to the Constitution of the United States of America, and anyone that says differently needs to reread the fourth amendment in the Bill of Rights. As Benjamin Franklin stated, "Those who would trade freedom for security don't deserve either."
4. Entitlement- Every American believes the world is under their feet and everyone should follow us. The US has made more enemies by making direct insults to those that don't support us than by our actual actions. France and Russia are great examples. They don't support a war, and now all Americans believe they have been corrupted by Iraq. Last time I checked, Iraq was a third world nation while France and Russia are on top of th UN in two of the five permanant seats. They may have their own intrest in mind, but that doesn't mean that Saddam Hussien rules their country.
5. Inflation- Raising the minimum wage is the dumbest idea in the world to stop inflation. By putting more money in the pockets of the people, big business is going to raise its prices on everything because the people have it to spend. Am I the only person in this country that knows that?

High Crime Rates, Poor Educational Performance, Lack of good parenting skills, Government inefficiency and civic apathy
Your next question after you get your top five problems from everyone should be: WHAT ARE THE BEST SOLUTIONS TO THESE PROBLEMS. maybe you should ask them one at a time.
Good question.
