I have found that when I get mad at people because they don't believe the way I do it's either because I feel extremely passionatelt about the issue or simply because I need reassurance that I am right.

Most self-proclaimed skeptics never queston special relativity, evolution, 911, gravity or various pop theories, which are espoused by the media.

They usually question something called "fringe" ideas, like cold fusion, zero point energy, time travel. Most of these ideas have been proven to be possible in labs (Google Table Top fusion UCLA or Renesslaer for example)

In fact, most skeptics are biased in their skepticism, and are therefore not skeptical at all.

True skepticism must be unbiased.

Most "skeptics" cannot handle the evidence right in front of their faces. They need the media to back it up, or some authority, thereby acting very sheep-like, and closed minded.

Skepticism = Easy way out

well t looks like that to you, but you have to understand that many skeptics question's people's beliefs, and though the skeptics do not get any additional information, many people feel offended. skeptics questioning something that is valuable to you, i think makes th person feel inferior, or makes the person feel like skeptics are being condescending, because they feel as if there is no evidence. i feel insulted when people tell me all because i cant provide any data that means I'm lying, or even crazy. i think some of them are afraid to lose the control of being right and intellectual to something they can't see. and the funny thing is they have the nerve to call those who believe in anything but aren't open to skeptics negativity, or stubbornness CLOSE MINDED> though, some do have good arguments. I choose not to give em that much credit anyway. who are they, but people who opinions? they can say what they want, that's their life, but i think people should learn not to give two piles of crap about the , and let them search for their data.

People always get mad at me because I don't take anything at face value. I have friends of mine who are "born again" Christians and family who are Jehovah's Witnesses and none of them can convince me that whatever they believe is the Truth. I am also an empiricist that tends to demand that I see something with my own eyes before I believe it ... this drives people crazy because they always say it is so great to have faith. I then tell them so did so many people under Hitler or so many people who followed Jimmy Jones to the poisoned glasses of Kool-Aid. I think it is necessary to be a skeptic to preserve onself and avoid disaster.

Basically, they have to attack you. People who believe in simplistic religions with dualistic views of reality (Everything is Black or White. My religion is the ultimate truth; anything else is not only wrong, but also blasphemy!) Simply by existing and challenging their beliefs, you open up the tiniest door that they could be wrong. This is terrifying for them. These people have staked their entire outlook and sanity on a simplistic religion that must be taken on faith. If you open up the possibility that they could be wrong, their entire universe, tilts and is in danger of compete destruction. They would literally snap. That is why religious types have to try to convert everybody. Simply by existing outside their religion, you prove their religion isn’t the universal ultimate answer.

Easy. It's because anyone or anything thats different, that goes agaisnt the "norm" or what they believe to be right tee's them off. They truly believe that their way is the right way, or that their way of thinking is the right way of thinking; therefore, they tend to try to force themselves---their way of living, thinking acting, believing---on someone else, and get very angry when the person refuses to accept it as the "right way" Then people have to resort to arguing, and going through statistics, fighting or whatever to try to prove their point. Hell. We've all done it at one time or the other.

It's a phenomenon called "cognitive dissonance". We have a need to associate/assimilate and part of that is sharing similar ideas with others. When we don't it is uncomfortable and causes anxiety. It is actually biological. Most people can handle it, others get angry. Those are the people who tend to have views outside of the mainstream...they rarely have equilibrium, and get upset because they are constantly trying to achieve it, but fail.

There's a big difference between questioning and accusing.

When you label something without backing it up, you "bring out" the backlash of others being offended.

If you're looking for an answer, you wouldn't ask in the way that you do...

People sometimes are hellbent on a certain point of view, and nothing at all shalt changeth their view.

Skeptics inherently question all points of view.

These are worlds apart in, well, everything.

When one refuses to question is confronted by one who refuses to believe, fireworks.

They'd like to be taken seriously, not laughed or scoffed at. It really sucks when people don't believe you.
