This question is serious and is not meant to offend anyone.

Why don't they use monkeys or other intelligent animals as guides and assistants for the disabled?

I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question. I just want to learn more about elephants and I might start a blog about them but I need to know why their population is decreasing due to ivory.

Oh! and you can tell me something about elephants too if you want!!=]

My beagle caught a wiff of something last evening and led us to a tree in our rather large back yard. Up the tree was a pretty big cat with a short stubby tail. In many ways this creature looked like a normal cat...but not quite. It had slightly broken 'stripes' and a really thick coat not to mention the short tail. I think it was a bobcat. What do you think? Do we have these creatures in North Carolina?

ive seen sharks in the aquariums and they are never that big. they have small mouths. In the movie jaws the shark was bigger than the boat and had a HUGE mouth, it looked like it could eat the boat. Was that really how big some are or an exageration? Because you usually hear about how they bite off arms or legs and this one looked like it could swallow 10 people whole.

I just found a spider in my house and it's pretty small (~3/4 of an inch) and has a golden pattern on his abdomen and right before his spinnerets is another small, gold pattern. (I live in Quebec; not many venomous spiders)What kind of spider is this??
