During floods men (people) snakes & other traped / stranded animals can often be found in the same tree or roof top. Also snakes have been known to curl-up next to sleeping campers on cold nights.

In floods. I was in a flood once. There was only one bit of dry ground for miles, and thankfully no snakes happened to be on it while I was there. There were echidnas, centipedes and MILLIONS of ants though.
