why do elephants die when the tusk is removed? I am trying to find a relation with elephants and humans, but i guess we don't relate that way. Because the tusk is on the outside and is like a tooth or something right? But when we remove nails or teeth we don't die. But then again we don't have bones that really stick out of us. So anyways why do elephants die when the tusk is removed?

had killer snakes. i get aroused and desiriouis of chopping them up. i also dont like anaconddas. i know i am not alone. it think it is genetic. why so some people love snakes. they are a very small minority. ecologically speaking i say it is a lie tha we need deadly snakes. not for vermin and not for stupid diversity. dumb notion. right and nerve gas is natural and lets test it on your neighborhood. now cobras and mambas found in miami. and reticulateed phytons eating gators in north maami. who lets them in . import mad cows and such. crazy. the tree huggers are so g. d. stuupid.

In several weeks, I'll be giving a 50 minute presentation on insects. The audience will be a high school bio class. Essentially, I'll be going over the general characteristics of all insects, their classification, along with honing in on several species in particular. Could anyone give me some really great websites on insects, along with links to video clips for ants (a really great 3-4 minute ant video)? Thanks.

BTW, it'll be in PowerPoint format.

I saw an 'AS SEEN ON TV' add for Pest OFFense. The manufactures claim that it is the "smart, safe, easy way to help repel pests without chemicles or traps." It is designed to work through the wiring within the walls, emitting a signal that will drive pests away.

I have quite a few mice in my home (4,000 sq ft). I don't want to kill them, but I must get them out.

1. Does this product work?
2. How many would I need?
3. Do you know a more effective merthod?

I narrowly missed today encountering a group of three coyotes while I was walking home in a suburban residential area. I want to know what I should do if I were to directly encounter coyotes. (i.e. make noise, look small, look big, run, run, etc,)

I was at the zoo today (www.clemetzoo.com)and on the sign for the hippo, it said the scientific name for it was hippopotamus amphibious (sorry don't know how to italicize on this). This brought a question to mind: is a hippo actually an amphibian? I consider an amphibian to be an animal that is born in the water and moves to land in later life, but while baby hippos are born in water, they are primarily land animals from birth. Opinions anyone?
