I saw an 'AS SEEN ON TV' add for Pest OFFense. The manufactures claim that it is the "smart, safe, easy way to help repel pests without chemicles or traps." It is designed to work through the wiring within the walls, emitting a signal that will drive pests away.

I have quite a few mice in my home (4,000 sq ft). I don't want to kill them, but I must get them out.

1. Does this product work?
2. How many would I need?
3. Do you know a more effective merthod?

Sorry, but I must say No. They did deter the mice for a while but then they returned. I agree with those users who say that the mice get used to the noise and also with Pebbles who stated that they might stop mice nesting but won't prevent visiting mice from foraging. I have used two types of sonic alarms and neither solved the problem. I have been here just over a year and caught more than thirty mice in traps.

Not a direct answer to your question but one of the guys I work with put an ultrasonic pest repellent unit (stand alone unit) in his garage to oust some squirrels that were nesting in there and the squirrels basically attacked the unit and chewed it up. I hope this is not what ends up happening to your home wiring. I am not trying to scare you but its something to consider since frayed wiring is obviously a fire hazard. If the sonic signal you are referring to is not strong enough to repel the animals from the wiring to prevent the wiring chewing problem then this may be what you end up with. Good luck.

The things don't work, they are a waste of money. If you have a problem with mice either get a cat that is a good mouser or put down traps or baits. Killing the mice is really the only option if you don't want to live with them. It is possible to get cage traps which catch the mice alive if you are lucky but they are not really the solution to mice in the house.
