in my question i dispute the notion we need rattlesnakes to control rodents. nonpoinsonous snakes (king snakes) are far more effectivve at that. andtheir are other mammals and birds that do that. owls eat far more rodents than rattle snakes. you are dead wrong. maby you meet a 10 foot diamond back up close and personal some day. ignorance abounds.

TRUE IGNORANCE is when humans decide they know what's best and go playing around with the species that occur naturally in any environment. Every creature..whether it be cute and cuddly or frightening and intimidating is just as essential to their environment as any other. If you go removing one species from it's natural habitat then the who ecosystem will fall.....just like dominos. Those introduced species of snakes that you mentioned in Florida is another good example of IGNORANCE. They didn't hop on a plane themselves. They were released by idiots who didn't give a single thought to their impact on the environment. I don't particularly LIKE snakes. In fact, they terrify me, and I avoid encounters with them as best as I can. Which can be a challenge seeing as I live in an area with 8 different venomous species. But I do have respect for them, and their contribution to my local ecosystem. And I have learned to co-exist with them. I would never ever kill one....even the ones who have found their way into my house. As for you, I think perhaps you should avoid TV programs about reptiles if they always get you worked up to the point of ridiculous.

Rattle snakes are everywhere here, but you have to remember that snakes serve an important purpose. Without snakes we'd be overrun by rodents, which are actually far more dangerous to humans.

Though rodents aren't inherently poisonous, they can carry rabies, and are often the source of plagues. They eat grain that we eat and large rats have even been known to gnaw babies to death. Snakes are actually a blessing when you start to consider how a planet overrun by rodents would be.

No I dont. There are far more important things to do than pick on a snakes nature. For example pick on people who skin animals alive in china. poisonous snakes are important and their nature is to eat other animals you dont need to kill them.

Oh yeah snakes are needed too. Did you know that a mouse produces 25 babies 4 times a year?!

You really don't have to be quite so reserved in your observations. Let it all hang out and tell us how you *really* feel.
