This is how I think it happened, based on my studies: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/captmicha/New/1.jpg

I think that the "birds" that people think developed from dinosaurs were just amongst the first developments taking place to take advantage of the benefits of flight. It could have developed from small dinosaurs climbing from tree to tree and leaping. We have bats after all, gliding squirrels and lizards too.

I think that the birds we know today are offshoots of reptiles that developed flight and the characteristics needed for flight like enlarged hearts, warm "bloodedness" and such.

My boyfriend and I just killed this huge freaky scary spider in our house... we thought it was a Funnel Web (similar size and jet black), but it was furrier and bigger. When we started spraying it moved a little and we saw it had a small white diamond in the middle of its back - although we didnt get much of a chance to look because the shoe came down pretty quickly after it moved!!

Just wondering if anyone knows what it was... we looked up Australian Spiders but cant find anything that looks like it...

Thanks! Ahh cant sleep now, I am terrified of spiders!!!

Egg and meat machines? They seem like such easy targets, were they ever able to fly at least?

The Florida Wildlife commission tells me that alligators typically hatch out between August - October. The insist that the little 6" alligators that have only recently been showing up in our area have to have been born then. I know for a fact that three nests hatched out in our area within the last three weeks. I have been photographing the adults for the last three-four months and there weren't any little ones around until now. Who else could I get answers about this from. (A biologist friend of mine says its a sign of global warming).

I know that something all fish have are scales. But sharks are fish, and it looks like they don't have them. Do they really have scales, or is this just an exception?

I heard that in zoos, flamingoes have a special dye in their food that keeps their feathers pink. If someone put in a different colored dye, like blue, could they turn blue? Thanks.

If I was in LA for just two or three days what would the best sites to visit for spotting birds? I would be using public transport so they need to be accessible. Pretty much all the birds would be new, even the most common ones because I've not been to the Americas before, so all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I took some pictures of it, hopefully they are clear enough. I found it in my bathroom last night. The bathroom is in my basement. I'm not sure what kind of bug this is and I was hoping someone could tell me! Thank you.
