There has been some debate as to whether a scorpion is an insect or an animal...it relates to animal abuse.

Why do houseflies always fly in circles around the lamp on the ceiling in the living room? Even when the lamp isn't switched on and - as far as I know - houseflies aren't attracted to light anyway.

Does anyone know how female mosquitos know where they've left the larvae so they can go back and spread blood into the water for them to feed upon? I know its a weird queston but... I'm pretty sure mosquitos want to kill me.

Ants don't have lungs ... Air comes in and goes out through pores so they don't have control on this process. But they need air. A friend of mine thinks that ants can hold their breath underwater for up to 14 days.

In my opinion a single drop of water could kill an ant. And 14 days without eating or being exposed to the sun light would lead to their death, wouldn't it ?

I don't want to influence your replies though.

Does anyone know ?

a falcon the size of a Prairie Falcon killed a bird in my backyard...i got a really good look at it, but I'm confused as to species. I thought at first it was a Prairie Falcon, but it's chest and belly is much browner than what I usually see on the power lines mostly light brown, but some speckled white)...it's very dark gray on top, even on his head like a cap. 25-50% bigger than a morning dove. Maybe I just never looked at them that close before...it's still out there eating a finch...guess I need to adjust my blame on the neighbors cat eating birds at my feeder.

When someone says daddy-long-legs are they talking about the spiders or the flies?

What are the correct names for the daddy-long-leg flies?
What are the correct names for the daddy-long-leg spiders?

I'm petrified of the flies, really, but I have no real issues with the spiders (although they do remind me of the daddy-long-leg flies…as do giraffes), everyone seems to get the two confused, even when I specify I mean the flying evils – a lot of people think they are the same thing, only one flies and one does not.

To clarify;
