Not too many in the wild because they are hidden and have a poison spur for protection.

A while ago the Bronx Zoo was losing platypus from their displays. They found that at night the neighborhood punks were climbing over the fences and grabbing them and throwing them into the lion cages. So add punks to the predator list.

Humankind has unfortunately exterminated all the big predators in Australia, and introduced the dingo. Prior to people, there were thylacines, big snakes, big lizards.
