I'm sitting in my apartment bedroom here in South East Ohio (Smack Dab in the Appalachian Hills) looking out my window right now, and I've always noticed after a hard rain the hills always start to ''smoke''. I'm guessing its steam, but where does it come from? It only happens after a hard rain too. Can water evaporate that quickly? If so, why that fast? No dumb answers please.

I am in New York City and tomorrow (January 6th) it's going to be near 70 degrees! That's just insane. While I love warm weather, I do find it really scary that it's this warm. I'm concerned about global warming and the effect it's going to have on us. I know I have a wild imagination but is it possible things will eventually get so hot we won't be able to survive here anymore? And how far off until scientists predict things to get really bad?

Last summer, my wife and I witnessed unusual lightning during a midwest thunderstorm. It was gold in color compared to the normal white/blue light we'd expect to see. It was also extremely slow in how it struck. We could actually witness it start from the ground (or close to the ground) and culminate in the clouds -- much slower in its development than a normal lightning bolt. The path wasn't very straight, either. However, it was almost smooth in the various twists and turns, rather than jagged.

There was a significant amount in close area and short amount of time. We must have seen a dozen strikes in a very short time, all with these attributes.

I've searched, and can't find anything close to what we saw.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I life in Connecticut and it has been in the fourties and lower fiftees for the past three weeks. It has not snowed AT ALL. It seems that this winter will be snowless and warm. Why is this? Why is the eastern seaboard so hot this year? Is there a chance it will snow at all this winter?

We live in Michigan and we haven't seen but about 4 inches of snow all winter. For the first Christmas in 16 years we didn't have any snow. Did anyone on here happen to see snow for Christmas? Is it snowing where you are now? It has been in the high 40's since the end of November. I am not complaining just asking.

i think so, because if they told everyone straight up then both scenarios would occur.
1:People would freak out and go crazy(Apocalypse)
2:Major Car Companies would lose money and have to make more money building cars that dont destroy the O-Zone Layer.
So they wait til the last moment when Earth is beyond repair and fire is crashing from the sky from God. Punishment is harsh, but people dont believe this will happen, because Politics are crap.
Yeah sure cars were one of the best inventions for transportation, and its every 17 years old dream, but it gets old, and its been too long, and time has passed and these Dreams will cause a Nightmare, if we dont stop it. This world we live in will be hell. People die, People Cry, time passes on, emotions hide
