I often hear people refer to scientists in very general statements such as "Scientist believe..." or "Scientists dicovered that...". I would like to know if there is a national science board or something similar, where I can read about new discoveries and advances without getting conflicting stories. I often hear of something that "scientists" discovered and all of the sudden these creationists start poping up to refute the claim. Pretty soon it becomes impossible to find the original discovery.

My main interests are in the forming of the universe, fossil evolution, and DNA advances. If anyone knows of any good scientific accredited sites where I wont hear "god did it" mumbo jumbo I would love to hear about them, thanks!

a guy has offered me a job (conditional on him being able to scrounge some grant monsy etc.) and i am trying to check out his credibility in the field (which tells me both how good the job is and the likely hood that said grant money is worth waiting for). The job is only RA level, but it will still be good to work with the most reputable poeple i can find.

He doesn't seem to have any publications in the specific field the job would be investigating. I asked him for some recomended reading and he says he has a couple of paitents, and i have found a few with his last name and first innitial so that seems to check it out?

I want to find some of his other publications but he has a common surname and first innitial so it seems hard to fathom which are his. He has given some from his lab in general, which seem pretty goood, but i wanrt to check out his personal track record as well.

General advice from some scientists please?

In a science project, my partner and I want to place first and do the best we can. We like complicated projects, but the materials must not be too expensive!, and we are very good in math and science and willing to take any challenge.
To place first, we need a very very cool, complicated, but understandable project. What do you think should be a suggestion?

NOTE: whoever puts the project that we like and/or qualifies on all the requirements get TEN points and two thank yous! :]

P.S. We are 8th graders but provide us with a project with challenge. Thanks.

the project for collecting the data can take up to as much as one month. math, science as said in the question are our faves. any science is okay as long as it`s fulfills the requirements. thanks

& our teacher told us we can get help from others like the procedures, materials, but the explanation is pretty much on our own. thank you.

Hi,

Besides that, we also know that love or sorrow affect our health.
So, emotions or thoughts can affect our health and it shows that mind is the one which does all that.

But how can it do that?
Is there a scientific explanation?

PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER WITH LINKS.

Thank you very much.

today at school, we were using microscopes, and as homework, one of the questions was:
you are looking at an image at low power. you see a round object in the top left corner of the image that you would like to see more clearly. you switch to medium power. list the steps you would have to take to get the round object in the middle of your view.
i kind of forgot the procedures, so can someone help me?
thanks a lot
