When a parachute is opened in mid air, then why does a small parachute(or whatever it is technically called) comes out first and then the big main one? If it is to help in releasing the big one from the bag, then how is the small one released? Can you tell me about it in detail?

think Biology is more important and easier than Chemistry. Biology involve cells, virus, genes, and more. Chemistry deals with polarity, heat, gas, vapor, electronegativity. Which major is better for pre-med?

A lot of people major more in Biology than Chemistry and I wonder why. Is it because its easier or more relative to medecine?

What is a good list of things I would need to survive such attacks?
I have basic canned food, wind up lanterns, radios and water. I also have a first aid kit. Is there a way to protect my vehicle against EMP? I have a wife 2 children 2 and 4, and two dogs. I would like to know how to survive for at least 1 year without any electricity.
