If you really want to get a handle on this interesting period, two books that you might check out are "The Birth of the Modern 1815-1830" by Paul Johnson and "The Reshaping of Everyday Life 1790 - 1840" by Jack Larkin. Also, "Industry and Empire" by E.J. Hobsbawm.
