Humidifier is a good idea, as many people suggested.

This is what I do what I do when I'm really getting sick of static electricity. Carry a key or some sort of metal object. Touch things like door knobs (and other things that usually shocks you) with the key first. This discharges the electricity, and you are safe to touch with your hands. Some times there is so much being discharged, you can see the spark-- like a lightening-- from the key to the door knob! but you yourself will not feel it.

Run a humidifier in the house to raise the humidity. Also you may consider the clothing you are wearing. If you use a lot of synthethic fabrics like polyesters, then switch to cotton.

If you add a humidifier to your forced air furnace, not only will it keep the static down, but the air stays warmer for a bit longer.
