I'm thinking about a career as a pharmacist, but what do they actualy do? Like at a hospital or behind the counter at Walgreens (drug store). Do they ground up stuff for pills? Or just perscribe? Or simply fill out orders?

I know there is so much research that has been done on the Human Genome. There are so many fundraisers, telethons for disease, etc. You never hear of a PERMANENT cure for anything. Are medical doctors that greedy that they want you to come back forever being treated for the same condition?

today I slipped a grocery plastic bag over my head, and sealed it around my neck so that no air gets in. in around a minute and a half I started seeing stars and my breathing is really strange! sort of like uncontrollable gasps. I was like..this is pretty cool. and a minute later I think my face was started to go numb, then I took the bag off

just wondering what would happen if I kept the bag on my head longer... like 20 minutes... is it possible to die?

Hi:

The following martial arts site discusses certain techniques to incapacitate opponents. The one I quoted talk about pain causing loss of consciousness by disrupting the reticular formation. Is this true science or just some age old myth?

quote from http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:ziuTpWWP9_oJ:www.internetarmory.com/self_defense.htm+%22neural+shock%22&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=3 :

"It is speculated that various organs of the body can send pain impulses to the brain stem indicating a severe or overwhelming bodily injury. The reticular activating system responds by producing a functional "shut down", which results in loss of consciousness within a second or two."

If this is real science, then what is mechanism in which the so-called "shut down" occurs?

Thanks,

Green
