I think the top 5 meds used may vary by regional sectioning of the U.S. The west coast, midwest, etc, vary in climatic temps, humidity levels etc, making ticks, worms, fleas more prominent in some areas rather than others.

It would be a wild guess that Heartgard and Interceptor would be on the top for dewormers since the vet always gives us one or the other.

as far as what works best for worms it depends what type of worms you have. Drontal Plus takes care of whips, rounds, tapes, and hooks. The tablets contain a mix of drugs, praziquantel for tapes, pyrantel and febantel for the others.
Top 5 pet meds? Depends on where you are like mentioned before but from expereince popular prescripitions included
1. Heartworm preventative (heartgard, interceptor ect)
2. Rimadyl (carprofen), Metacam (meloxicam) and other NSAIDS for pain
3. Keflex (cephalexin) for infections
4. Clavamox ( amoxicillin /clavulanate) for infections
5. Baytril (enrofloxacin) for infections.
6. Tapazole (methimazole) for hyperthyroid cats.
7. Drontal Plus for deworming
I'm probally missing some ,but those are the ones that come to mind quickest.
