I'm a biochemistry major in university and thinking about going for a minor in zoology only if it would help my chances to get into any universities that offer veterinary medicine. As of right now, I'm leaning towards university of Purdue, Indiana.

it is very difficult to get into vet school. there are only like 25 or so in the US and they are very competative. Get good grades, get expereience working or volunteering with a vet, try to get large animal expeierience, research experieince helps. There is a huge lack of food animal vets, so if you want to work with cows or pigs, mention it in your essay. Also get involved with your school's prevet club if they have one. the following website has links to what each school requires.

P.S. Purdue is an excellent school

I have a family member who said that the test to get into vet school is harder than med school since you have to know the entire system of MULTIPLE animals versus one human.

I have a lot of respect for vets think about how they don't specialize like most doctors, they are more general practitioners that others.

zoology or marine biology could be your ultimate guess. It relies upon on you and what you intend on specializing in. you will possibly be guy or woman who makes a speciality of horses or a vet that is familiar with a sprint some lot of animals. that's as much as you.
