I have astigmatism in the left eye. I have been wearing contacts for 10 years and my vision has become much worse in the last 4 years and MUCH worse in the last year. I am now 27. I have difficulty driving at night and my vision is poor on the basketball court (the lights or the glossed flooring blurr my vision). My guess is either keratoconus or diabetic retinopathy. I want to rule out keratoconus because my condition seems to be unilateral (only in my left eye). Also, I haven't had a blood-sugar test (I'm doing that in 3 weeks) so my money is on D.R. Has anyone heard about a case like this? Any help would be great because I'm starting to think I may lose vision completely one day if this keeps up. I also fear corneal transplantation (AAAHHH!!))) :)

I went to my doctor today because my other doctor referred me to him. He goes " it's going to cost 900 dollars with a 300 dollar replacement fee if you lose it. I couldn't help myself think that that is the most ridicolous thing I have ever heard. I understand it's a custom fitted contact lenses, but it will only last about 6 months he said.so 1800 for a year? gimme a break. I havent this bad of price gauging from a doctor. We all know it goes on but come on 900 bucks for synergeye contacts?

For my Human Physiology/Lab Honors class, we performed an experiment in which iodine was placed on the hands and the arms and covered by a piece of paper for thirty-five minutes. Following this time, my partner and I discovered that the iodine on her palms had collected onto the sheet of paper covering it, but that the iodine on her arms had not stained the piece of paper covering it. We believe that the dermal papillae located on the palms may have caused the iodine to collect in her palms more than on her arms, but what in the composition of paper would have caused the iodine to be attracted to the paper?

I've got the flu (yes it is the flu and not a cold) and have just thrown up the little food I have been able to eat. Why do our bodies do this when we are ill?

We spend about 50 % of our life sleeping . No cell can rest in our body. It is certainly not rest as no vital organs can take rest. I read recently that human beings can be without food for days but not without sleep even for a few days. Please dont tell about REM etc. Is there a so-called 'scientific' explanation which tells why we need sleep and what happens during sleep?

People say it corrects a chemical imbalance as if depression were an illness. There is a chemical imbalance because you are unhappy not because you have caught some contagious disease. Alot of people tell me I should get medication because I am depressed and never really happy with anything anymore. And I say things like life is just an endless circle of stress and doing the same old **** until you die. Anyone with a brain notices these things though. Why am I somehow crazy for being honest to myself? The real question here is even if it's a chemical imbalance. That is caused by unhappiness correct? Why is it that people view depression as a disease that can be cured through medication?
