I've got the flu (yes it is the flu and not a cold) and have just thrown up the little food I have been able to eat. Why do our bodies do this when we are ill?

Human influenza does not infect the stomach so there are no "parasites" to get rid of. Please people, use your brains.

Lucozade is the answer - it contains enough glucose to keep you going.

influenza usually affects the respiratory system and should not cause vomitting. Unless you are swallowing large amounts of mucous, which might make you nauseous.
You are probably infected (double whammy) with a virus that is causing you to have acute gastroenteritis (something like the norovirus), which means that your stomache is infected and irritated and is not receptive to food right now.
You may want to stick to sucking on gatorade ice cubes or ice chips with a little pedialyte to sip. Hope you feel better soon!

The body is doing everything it can to expel the "Parasite", another way of doing this is through "Diarrhea", nasty, yet effective.
