For me to save electricity, When I’m not studying I will use the 10 watt light in my room. The problem is when I want to study my homework, the 10 watts is not sufficient enough to illuminate my vision. So I installed another 20 watts fluorescent light to have a brighter radiance. Im just wondering, if there such a switch that can control the two lights one at a time. I tried to paste my diagram to further elaborate but it wont paste on this site.

110v (a) ---------------------->

on (for 10 watts light)
110v (b)----------------> off
on (for 20 watts light)

Suppose a company delivers 540kW of power at 12kV thru wires that have a total resistance of 2.5 ohms. How much power is saved by delivering the power at 87kV rather than 12kV?

I read in my textbook that {power lost due to heat} is proportional to R*I^2. I also know how to get the right answer. I just don't know why (I messed around with the numbers and somehow got the right answer).
The procedure to get the right answer is:
P = IV (what does P represent here?-power from where?)
(540kW) = I (12kV)
I = 45 A for the delivery at 12kV
Then: P = I^2*R = (45^2)(2.5) = 5062.5
Another question here: what does this P represent? Why are there 2 "P's" in the problem?

Repeat procedure for 87kV
P = IV
Solve for I.
Then: P = I^2*R = 96 A
Then the correct answer is obtained by subtracting:
5063 - 96 = 4967 = 4970 W
They give the answer as 4.97 kW.

Atom smashers are like powerful microscopes. The lengths they can measure are inversely proportional to the diameter of their accelerator rings. The most powerful yet are tevatrons, producing 1-trillion electron-volt collisions. Your job is to present a budget proposal to Congress for a particle accelerator capable of measuring objects as small as the Plank length---10^-35 meter. Can it be done for less than a $Googol?

I'm reading this document to first understand the rotational dynamics of a spacecraft, and then to understand the Kalman filter that comes with it.

Problem is I don't know what bias and spatial accelerations are. I've googled these terms, but the hits I've recieved were not very good.
