I will soon be calling my local electric company to set up electicity in an apartment I'll be moving to. I was told I'll be charged by kilowatt hour. So what is a kilowatt hour? How much is a kilowatt hour? For example, I have a toaster oven that uses 700 watts of power. So how many kilowatt hours is that?

I just bought a decent scanner to try to hear aviation traffic in my area. I am 11 miles from Honolulu airport and 4 miles from Kaneohe Bay MCB airfield. Using the antenna that came with, I get almost nothing from HNL (just a little airline internal traffic in the 450MHz range). There are some hills between me and HNL. The "came with" is a telescoping antenna. The system calls for 50 Ohms. I read about 1/2 wave dipole, 1/4 wave ground plane, J bars, Yagi etc. I want to pick up the best sound I can from HNL, which is directional, while still getting non-directional aircraft, though most of them will also be in a similar direction, and still keep a little broad band. In short, I want it all. What are my best choices and compromizes. I am reasonably handy and can build my own or buy, and could even put in a couple phased antennas together if that would work. Any help appreciated, or direction to the best web references. Thank you for your time

Please be realistic. No matter materializers, force fields, disks that make you float, and whatnot. (dont give me things you saw in phil of the future) This is half my grade so please give me good ideas. I have to make a power point display, a 3-D model and a diagram of the invention.

THe idea is to get the frquency from the time domian signal for speech PCM, with as minimal complexity as much as possible.

I know it can be done accurately in the frequency domain through FFT.

If a large quantity of natural gas is found on one property, and in near-by properties gas is found, too, will the multiple drillings decrease the amount of natural gas found in the first property? (Like lots of straws being put into one soda?) Or are there natural occurrences underground that can divide the gas finds into their own separate "pools," unaffected by drilling elsewhere? (Like lots of glasses of soda).

If I understand right electric motors are well suited for stop and go driving while turbine engines are well suited for long extended trips. So doesnt a hybrid turbine car make sense? If not why?

I've only noticed this with my psp and ds lite charger. Whenever they are charging their respective product they emit this high pitch. No one really seems to notice it but me but it just drives me crazy! I'm sure answering this question might just lead to a lesson in how battery and battery charging work.
