It often depends upon the place you work and the type of position you hold. BTW: Does travel by astronauts count?
A petroleum engineer would likely travel if he worked for a drilling and exploration company but not if he worked for a local refinery.
Civil engineers working on these Mega-projects of international airports, construction of Dubai, International dams, etc. would need to travel.

Not necessarily a "type" of engineer - it's more the part of the field you get into. The ones in sales do the most traveling. Working for a major equipment manufacturer will also mean more travel - to the sites where they are having problems.

In my experience sales engineers. Engineers not familiar with any of the details of a product, but who know enough to sell the product to customers.

Sales engineers, or sales reps. These can be any type of engineer, as mechanical engrs. rep mechanical equipment, electrical engineers rep electrical equipment, etc., etc.

hmm... Probably civil, environmental engineers.

Depends on where do you work. If you get a job in a big city, like LA, NY, Phoenix, you will get paid pretty well. At least starting at $50,000 a year
