Using appropriate terminology.
A diagram/sketch would also be helpful.

What are the basic knowledge (i.e. calculus, queueing theory) should I have in order to understand the following paper :

Abhay K. Parekh and Robert G. Gallager, A Generalized Processor Sharing Approach to Flow Control in Integrated Services Networks: The Single Node Case"

Alan Demers, Srinivasan Keshav, Scott Shenker. Analysis and Simulation of a Fair Queueing Algorithm.

Thank you very much

see, i'm building a dance pad (for any of you that play pump it up, im building one of those bc they dont sell any metal ones from reputable stores online). in case you dont know how it works, you step on the arrow shown, and thats how the button is activated. i've taken all the instructions on how to make a ddr pad, and im just going to alter them to fit pump it up.

and my friend decided he wants it to light up like in the arcade

so i said that's cool, but i can't seem to find any instructions on how to light a pad, at least not any that i understand.

so my questions are...
1. where would i put the resistor? live wire or ground?
2. do these lights need their own power supply ? (the rest of the pad is supplied by power from the ps2, im only planning on using a 25w bulb with a 10 ohm resistor)
3. can i wire the lights directly into the wires that trigger the arrow step? cuz otherwise i wont know how else to set up the lights to light up when you step on the arrow.
thanks!

A flu epidemic breaks out in Preston. Ayman notes the fraction of the population that is infected at time t (in weeks) is given by f(t) = 64t / (8 + t)^2. What is the largest fraction of the population that is infected during the first 10 weeks? Assume that t = o when the epidemic starts.

I need to KNOW what category of Engineering I'm doing here!!! I keep getting conflicting advice and it's keeping me from focusing on what course of action to start my own Home Designing Business!!! I have no formal training...just plain talent. Please help!

I love drawing and designing floor plans and houses.
This is what I do: I design a floor plan and fill it in according to my creativity. Then I imagine and create a 2D drawing of what the house would look like on the outside. Sometimes I'll pick a room and draw the interior design and furnishings of that room.

I've been told it was Drafting. Then I was mainly told it was Mechanical Engineering for a long time. Then I was told it was Civil Engineering! I was told I didn't need to spend 5-6 years getting a Degree and Certification (for Architecture). Then I was told that I should. I'm confused.

Hi,
Can you guys please suggest some alternatives for an amplifier? - saving money is my most important criteria. Obviously, i will have to ask a electrical technician/ technologist as well, but can you please give me some ideas to approach them with.

I am in the process of building a simple electronic device to produce sound. I am trying to save as much money as possible.

I am using a piezoelectric ceramic disc as a transducer. This probably won't cost me more that $100, even from a good company.

The other part of this device is an amplifier. From what i understand at the moment about piezo, i should be able to use a simple linear amplifier - still have to check this to be sure. I understand that by not using a high quality amplifier specially designed for piezo, i may experience some noise and distortion near maximum output, however in the case of the device i am building this is acceptable. By avoiding a purpose built lab amp, i should save a lot of money (thousands).

Can someone give me an example of a load on a circut that is a capacitive load (appliance equipment). I know about capacitive reactance where the voltage lags the current and how they can be used to correct power factor in large inductive loads, but what other thatn that is a capacitive load???
