Im writing a small program that does steel column design based on the loads that a user applies. Im trying to automatize as much as possible to make the program usable even by someone who knows nothing about column design. Im using ASTM standard W sections, but in the program i have a place for placing the Fy of the steel. I wanted to do this thru a listbox option but i need to know what the most used steel grades for steel columns are so i can include them. Im thinking 5 options, can anyone help me out?

Hello, Our company is looking to purchase some industrial equipment. I am doing a cost/profit analysis and trying to figure out power usage. Both devices run off of 208v 3 phase. Total usage is 29.2 amps running. For example, To figure out kwH for single phase power you take 120(volts) x 10(amps) gets you 1200 watts, times 1(hour) divided by 1000 = 1.2kwH if I remember correctly. Now, my question, how do you figure out 3 phase kwH? do you multiply by 208 for 1 phase, or 624 for all 3 phase'?

I can figure out what our cost per kwH is, just need to know how to figure out to get kwH from a 3phase device.

Thank you,
Jason

and the parallel combination of LRC is called Rejector circuit. My question is why is it that we call Acceptor as accepltor and rejector as rejector.
And in the experiment we use an audio generator. what is a audio generator. (i mean i know it generate frequencies, why why exactly is it called audio generator, certainly not because it generates human audible frequency range i.e. 20 Hz to 20KHz, because i have seen it can generate a lot more than 20KHz)

I have been in and around the construction industry all my life. I love watching the Discovery Channel's invention shows and how things work. I am glued to my TV when the History Channel has airplane shows. Engineers have alway been my idols. It really didn't matter what area of Engineering they were into. So, back to my question...

A good friend of mine has a 7 year old son that is demonstrating what I strongly see as natural engineering skills. I have always loved taking things apart to see how they work. This boy is actually able to put things back together. Something that I still have trouble doing. He builds his own bike ramps, carefully adjusting the angle to achieve just the right trajectory. I could go on...

How do I help? How do his parents help? How can we identify his talent and steer him in that direction in a way that will maintain his enthusiasm? Are there pitfalls we should be aware of? As he grows older, what elective school courses are recommended? Are there games?
