Hey...i did science olympiad and i won the egg drop competition last year. I had an egg wrapped in the egg kind of stufff that some people put under thier bed. We made a little hole so we could put the egg in it and taped it up real good. Then we got some bubble warp and taped a bunch of that around it. That would be fin without a parachute, but it would be safe to add one. We just got a shirt and cut a circle and had 4 holes with string that attached to the egg holder. Make sure that everything is taped on good. Also, if you dont want to go with my design just some hints: most people didnt even need a parachute and if your not dropping from a high disance, dont waste your time on a big parachute becuase it wont even catch air. also, dont let your egg fall out of the contraption and dont make it very heavy. GOOD LUCK

If you're talking about where you have to make something to make the egg not break, I suggest wrapping the egg in bubble wrap(That stuff children like to pop that comes with fragile packages). If you can't find that, helium filled balloons work well too. Don't use enough to make the egg float away, but enough to make it float gently to the ground. I used bubble wrap when I did that project in intermediate school and we threw it off of a third story roof and it was fine.

this is a potential energy to kinetic energy to potential energy problem.
how do you convert from one to the other form of energy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_energy
one approach would be to increase the volume,
thereby decreasing the energy per unit volume applied to the egg's surface.
that is how NASA landed a satellite on the surface of Mars.
for example, put it inside of bubble wrapping paper.
the bubbles act as a shock absorber.
another approach would be to change the rate at which
energy is converted. parachute.
you might try boiling the egg first also.,
then laminating the surface with an epoxy material.
or some super rubbery mateial.

Well, you try to package the egg so it won't burst, and then you drop it off the top of a building.

You didn't specificy what kind of help you need.....so that's not very helpful.
Anyway, you really just need to pad your egg with something that will absorb the shock of the landing. That includes putting that padding in a box with a little "jiggle" space. Have fun!
