At 4000K, the centers of sunspots should only be 7 or 8 times darker than the sun. That doesn't seem like alot.

Are the umbras really cooler than 4000K, or is the dynamic range that narrow?

Since the news came out that Mars had water 2 billion years ago, I wonder if Earth is following a similar path as Mars. Could Earth be like the current Mars in the far future?

How long before you think anyone will prepare to make a trip to mars? What are some problems with such a trip, and to be specific why can't be it be done at this point in time? I've also heard that the best way would be to slingshot around venus, then earth to gain momentum? Is this viable or would that be ignorant to waste fuel and resources going around venus. lol just wandering

ok so yeah. they found another 200 and something planets out in space. little by little were (as humans) making the universe smaller and smaller. do u guys think in SAY 1 million years US as humans will have started to populate those planets. i for one think we will.

what are uther peoples views on that

How can we say that a beam being received is horizontally polarized or vertically polarized on reception at a satellite..what will be the plane of reference? Is there any other method to measure plane of polarization.

Do you think it's possible to time travel? Why or why not? I'm not sure on this one, I think that it might be possible. But the only thing that stands to reason, is how could it be, when if someone was to go back in time , it could very much alter the future?

Does the moon being overhead decrease your weight on Earth a tiny bit? Or is that made up for by the moon pulling the Earth up toward you at the same time, like the creation of the tidal bulge on the far side of the Earth is created by the moon pulling the Earth away from that water...
