My thinking is how should we measure when another alien species is ready for 1st contact? Should it be technological advancement, their zenophobic views and aggression, or their interaction with each other and the 'unexpected'? Also how should we contact them? Their government and/or hierarchy, individuals, broadcast across the whole planet at once, with what radio, tv, a landing craft (ignoring the issues of distance in space)?

I mean, they were intended to only last a few months, and they are still going after three years!!! Considering how relatively cheap they were to build and deliver, should this be considered as a harbinger of future space exploration becoming less expensive and more accessible to private industry?

I would be thankful for any answers for a problem I haven't been able to solve:

When you look at an object through binaculars (eg. a cyclist passing by) and then try to follow the target still watching, the image gets dizzy - basically, you cannot see anything at all.

But how can it be technically explained that you can watch an extremely distant object in the sky (eg. Saturn, or a comet) through the observatory equipment when both the observatory, our Planet and the object are moving, each at a different, very high speed? How is it still possible to maintain such clear image of the object?

Basicly, Fussion, the same Reaction that takes place on the Sun, can be used on earth to produce energy that is safe and Eviroment Friendly. However, damage to the Chamber Walls when the reaction takes place are huge, but tests show by using Helium 3, these damages can be reduced massively. The 2nd However comes because we dont have Helium 3 on earth, but the moon has it huge deposits of it, and already many countries including England, the USA, Russia and Japan want to take advantage of this. What do you think?

Why aren't there a load of rockets in space wondering how to get down again?!
In order to go forwards, there's got to be something there to push against. But if space is a vacuum, there would be nothing there to push against..or would there?

I find this information very interesting and alarming at the same time.

You can browse the entire manual here:
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/serpo/operations_manual.htm

Take a look and judge for yourself. Why would this special Government unit print a manual unless they had a need for it?

Usually you write a manual after a situation has occurred, that way you are better prepared for the next hands-on experience.
