Why do most people (including scientists / physicists) use the base that there might be life on other planets where there is oxygen? Isn't it possible that there is life on other planets which uses something else to survive like carbon-di-oxide or any other element?

to all your ? some ppl believe in anything,to hold on to faith.
people are like plants and animals of all kinds on earth, they were born young they grow, old they die of many causes, as stars and planets do. some early some later.
if these reasons could be paned out life would be like a circle without an end.
some call planets many things because they lack intelegence to know the diference.
the exixtence of aliens, yes they are real as you are, they come from many places beyond our time, some yo see some you don't.
time and distance is no factor to them. like when the first plane was flown, compare them to the shuttle today, and compear our shuttle to beyond lightspeed and beyond.thats progressieeve science.
some day soon all will realise there is much more to life than what we know at this place in time. believe me when i say they are among us today. some day the younger generation will look back and wonder why we wernt in a more progressieve move towards better science and mode

The universe is so big, it is reasonable to think there are other life forms. Why they have not visited us so far?

Given that daily solar insolation would be reduced to zero, how quickly would things change on our planet.

I.E., the great big light just went out... how would we mark significant upcoming events on our calendar?

I remember hearing somewhere that if you want to go, for example, to mars it'll take hundreds of years, but you won't age and when you come back everyone you know will be old or dead. Is this true?

I have always been fascinated by alien abductions. Maybe some readers have experiences of this.

Imagine, an alien space ship hovering in space 20,000 miles above planet earth. The ship is millions of years ahead of our own technology and the occupants infinitely more intelligent than us….

Monday 14th April 2007…. On board the ship:

Alien One: “what shall we do today?”
Alien two: “Let us visit the planet yonder and seek out intelligent life”
Alien One: “OK”
Alien Three, looking through powerful telescope: “I MIT and many learned people”
Alien four: I see a trailer Park in Southern Florida and many Trailers”
Alien Two: “Take a subject from the trailer park, we shall learn much”

30 seconds later Larry from the Trailer Park lands in the craft.

Alien One: “ I have the estoliratrope and the repodetsigram ready to scan the brain and vital organs of this creature”

Larry: In confused State… “hey ya awl… where’s betty Sue

Alien Two: I see the creature is attempting to communicate, what shall we do?”
Alien One: “tell you what, forget the estoliratrope and the repodetsigram lets stick a probe up is bum”

All aliens: “Sounds good to me”

Larry: Owwwchhh.

Two days later Larry sits confused in his pick up truck, the engine has mysteriously repaired itself and the wipers are working. No static on the radio and he has a sore bottom. He ponders his next move….

Yes… Tell the world.

The question? Why do aliens always abduct inbreed idiots from the southern states when they could have their pick of humans?
