I don’t think it would matter how fast you go or what direction you choose, but if you did fly around the Earth backwards faster than the speed of light, I don’t think time would go back at all, it would continue to travel forward with out you and you would just end up right back where you were a second ago.
Now maybe if you could create something that could control what everything and everyone on Earth was doing all at one time, then maybe you could manipulate time, but in all essence the time it would take you to activate such a machine or wormhole or whatever would take so much time in itself that it would make no difference and would be a mute point. But hey, whatever floats your boat!!

To turn back time, you don't need to fly around the Earth backwards - you just need to travel faster than the speed of light.
Unfortunately, it is probably impossible to travel at that speed - you would need endless energy and there isn't that much energy in the universe.
Scientists are working on it, though. Some reckon they've made a theory, but it uses types of energy that doesn't even exist, so don't get your hopes up yet.

It depends at what altitude you are flying...if you were flying too low you would risk splatting into a mountain, or even hitting a fly, at these speeds the fly will penetrate entirely though your entire body due to the velocity of impact.
Based on this equation v = b/a = sqrt(c2 + (v/a)2)*4/5 cos(a)2 I calculate that that you would most likely also be turned into instant chocolate pudding, but i not entirely sure if it would be the low fat, diet , or regular variety.

Scientists would say it's impossible to go faster than light. I don't understand, speed is just the time it takes to get from one place to another. So you should be able to do it faster than light you won't be able to see you're there till light caught up but it could be possible.
As to doing the superman thing and turning back time. I seriously doubt it. As far as i am aware time only moves in one direction and until I'm proved wrong I'm going to believe that.

When moving at extremely fast speeds it is thought that time does indeed slow down, but this is only relative to the object that is moving, not the entire universe. (Eg, it is believed that Armstrong is actually a few minutes younger than he should be from traveling to the moon). As far as going faster than the speed of light that isnt possible (right now - nor may it ever be possible) the mass of an object increase exponentially as the speed increases until, at the speed of light, the mass is infinite.
But hey, it may be possible in the future. Light travels at the speed of light (Duh!) but Photons have a mass, particle-wave duality and all that!

The theory of general relativity (1935 paper by Einstein - Rosen) does allow for the existences of worm holes but it closes up before a space ship can get through ( I assume you were planning to use a spaceship -- instead of running really, really fast). But there is hope --you just have to wait around until and advanced civilization (not homo sapiens obviously) to create a way of keeping the worm hole open long enough for you to travel through. Alternatively you could contact the creator of Ground Hog Day and ask how they did it... or read Stephen Hawkings' book A Briefer History of Time for some possible approaches. Have fun and see you yesterday.

It's possible, not proven, but possible that if you travel in any direction faster than the speed of light that you MIGHT be able to go back in time a couple seconds, or possibly more, but it wouldn't matter if you were traveling backwards or forwards, just what speed.
The idea of time travel is a little illogical though, because it would seem, that if anyone actually accomplished it, we would have evidence: someone probably would have traveled to our time period at least once or another, and have exposed it. And if you think about it, with millions and millions of people, from millions of different time periods from the future traveling forward and backwards through time, you would definately think that in AT LEAST one time in our lives we would have had AT LEAST some evidence of someone doing it (or even have found someone who did).

No, you would not turn back time. However, you would age less quickly than someone on Earth, because your relative time would have gone by slower than someone that was not traveling the speed of light. This is the famous "Twins Paradox" in physics, based on special relativity.

Good luck traveling anywhere close to the speed of light! Your mass would begin to be quite heavy as you approached such speeds!

According to Nu tons theory of relativity as you approach the speed of light the things around you begin to slow down. So if you were to pass light speed time would slow or stop for you but would have no effect on the rest of the universe.
However dodging space Derbies at the speed of light I think would be impossible Unless your superman. :)

Doubtful. But if it's in a Superman movie it must be true.
Just kidding. In all seriousness, the possibility of doing this is so out there that it is impossible to test now. Maybe once man is able ot travel at the speed of light then we can test it. Until then we can only speculate. It would be cool though ...
