If space (not including planets, stars, etc) is infinite then how can you have an infinite amount of emptyness and nothingness? If it is finite then how can you have only a fixed amount of nothing?

Maximum signal efficiency for information transfer actually results in a signal that's indistinguishable from noise. This is a result from information theory and data compression. Advanced alien civilizations are far more likely to communicate with signals that look like static to us, and we'd never know.

OK I once tried SETI@home until I got my next utility bill, and realized that running my computer full speed 24/7 was costing me $30 a month. Is SETI@home the cause of global warming? Doesn't it waste enough electricity every year to power all of France? All to find aliens who aren't at home? Should it be banned by some kind of international treaty?

I am doing a science project for school. We have to create the solar system, but instead of our solar system we can make up our own. Our requirements are to have a sun(main object) and nine or more planets. Some kids in my class our doing sports, movies,or names etc. But I am having a hard time coming up with something unique. We can make up the names, surface type and population for each planet. If you have any greats ideas/themes let me know!! Thanks!!!

Mars has either no magnetic field or a very weak one. Why does this fact make it unlikely that life exists at the present time on the suface of Mars?

I heard that the morning moon I sometimes see can be Venus (or Mercury? cant remember which). But I have also heard that it is the moon. How can it be the moon if the sun provides light to the moon? If the sun is out, wouldnt the moon be overpowered by the sun? Help!!!!

Theres a few for me to ask, that made my science teacher go 'woah!'. He said that i had thought wayy to deeply...
The first and main question:

If the earth and planets orbit the sun, and the sun is a star- does that mean round all the other stars are orbiting planets...and other 'earths'? [planets with life]

Second of all
I saw a photo of the Milky Way. How did they get that...no-ones traveled that far into space right? But then it was probably satellites. So does that mean theres other 'Milky Way's' out there?

Third Question.
In the nucleus of the Milky Way there is lots of old dull stars.
Does that mean that the sun will also become dull, and die, therefore killing all life on Earth?

Forth question.
Does the universe end? What does the edge look like? I came up with a silly idea that it might be a mirror. And if the edge were a mirror, that wouldnt mean they would be 100 000's of planets but half of that...as they are reflected off teh mirrors.
