No string theory does not mean that we have a parallel universe. According to string theory strings are vibrating and these vibrations at certain frequencies make up all we know today. For example take an apple, you break the apple down in atoms, you break the atom down into protons, neutrons, and electrons, and you break these down into quarks, and other particles inside these and inside quarks you have strings that are twisted different ways and give off certain frequencies. We are very close to proving string theory. It would mean that our universe has 11 diminsions in it. Also proving string theory would tie together Einsteins theory of relativity and quantum mechninces into one master theory. Einstein tried to find one master theory and couldn't. Scientist now know that the equations are so hard they can't solve them so they created pre-equations for string theory and these still take very long time periods to slove.

Well done on the theory explanation! I felt smarter just reading it.
However, strings do not entail parallel universes, merely additional, previously unknown aspects of our current understanding of the universe.
